We’re pleased to announce that Jamaal Ahmed is our new Database and Meetings Manager. Jamaal comes to us from the UCSB Library where he was responsible for Circulation and Course Reserve materials. We asked the newest member of our staff to introduce himself.
How would you describe the job responsibilities of this position?
I reserve a variety of different spaces in housing and residential services owned properties. For some clients this includes coordinating with campus vendors for event deliveries and catering. I also take reservations and coordinate stays at the West Cottages for campus visitors on University business.
What do you like the most about your job?
Talking to happy clients after their event. It is great to be able to be part of showcasing an organization and helping them be successful in their event. As part of the UCSB community we all feed off the successes of those around us.
When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing?
In my free time I like to wander the streets of Santa Barbara soaking up the sun. There are a wealth of activities and I feel like every week I hear something new I want to do. Or I take a nap, naps are essential to life.
What would you do if you won the lottery?
If I won the lotto I would probably keep doing everything as if I didn't. I would invest and send my parents on a trip. I’m boring like that.
